New Cannibal Corpse- unanticipated level of dopeness?

Very cool new song. The riffing actually surprised me a good deal; it's still distinctly Cannibal Corpse, but doesn't seem quite as starkly chainsawing and dissonant as stuff off albums like "The Wretched Spawn"- honestly, the main riff sounds a lot like something Vader would do. It feels like this is a really natural progression from "Kill" with little hints of that modernized thrashiness off "Gore Obsessed." Sounds like a really good one is coming down the pike!

  1. never thought of CC as a band i'd enjoy, but fuck this is good! that thrashing riff and then the atonal tremolo part it leads into remind me of Kreator, strangely. you should review this when it comes out.

  3. It's weird to hear some much snare on the off-beat from this band. It gives the music a lot more momentum than their usual snare-on-the-downbeat approach. (I think that may be what makes it sound a bit Kreator-ish.) Anyway, it's a great song from a band I will always enjoy.

  4. I'm going to see them live with Exhumed soon, I have honestly never cared for Cannibal Corpse much past being the only death metal you could get when not knowing about mail order or living in a decent area for record shops. In the early/mid 90s being a kid getting your hands on Eaten Back To Life was as extreme and forbidden as getting a porn mag, but that's all they've really done for me, they damn near steered me away from extreme metal altogether. The place where I live gets a real metal show once a year and I unfortunately think this is going to be it, however they are playing a tiny venue and the turnout with be low, so it makes these shows way more memorable and fun. This sounds like Cannibal Corpse and that's about all I can say.
