Posers are food for the crows

In case you haven't noticed, we've been up to our ears in a comments debate started by Noktorn's "Hipster Gentrification" post. Nothing personal against Chuck, who has a genuine love for the music, but thinking about posers all day has left me seriously pissed off. So now I bring you this brilliant track from Lansing's Sauron, a shamefully unknown band spewing out some of the most ferocious Destruction-style black/thrash produced anywhere in the world right now. They're right up there with Desaster, with a greater emphasis on old school aesthetics. But you'll notice these guys have a sound of their own. This track's about kerb-ing a Pantera fan, but it could just as well be about taking a battle axe to a pseudo-crusty bike messenger wearing a trucker hat and a Darkthrone t-shirt. Different look, same old shit. It's smart, talented guys like Sauron, persevering in the underground out of pure love for the music, who have become the beating heart of metal today. If you think Wolves In The Throne Room are the bright new hope for the scene, suck on this. F.O.A.D.

  1. "pseudo-crusty bike messenger wearing a trucker hat and a Darkthrone t-shirt"

See man, y'all should just move to Iowa, we don't have those here.

  2. although if you do you may have to put up with a couple metalheads who like WITTR simply just because they like it. We may not be hipsters, but we aren't necessarily sophisticated either.

  3. Duuuuuudddeee, just like the previously mentioned Desaster, I've seriously neglected listening to this band for a long time. I used to exchange emails with their guitar player way back in the day, he's a pretty cool dude. I haven't listened to anything of theirs since their "Thrash Assault" EP, I'll have to reacquaint myself with their sound. The song you posted is pretty cool!
