In which I post a Mortuary Drape song and go to bed

Do you like Hellhammer? Do you like Discharge? Do you like noodly guitar solos? Do you like pictures of actual exhumed corpses with candles and shit? Cool, then you will like this song!

  1. Italy's best export! I think the unusually audible bass on this album is one of the best things about it. The almighty Drape are one of the best examples of what 'sophisticated' black metal should sound like, I think.

  2. And yet, not sophisticated in the common sense of the word! All the riffs in this track are "primitive," but the class is in the overall delivery. And the fancy guitar solo. For me, Italy's finest export is Spite Extreme Wing, but these guys are definitely up there.

  3. Their Into the Drape EP is a masterpiece, probably the best of the "creepy" section of the subgenre, like a really well-done synthesis of Mercyful Fate and proto-second wave black metal.

  4. ...but yes, Spite Extreme Wing is probably the best Italian band.

  5. I like what I've heard from SEW, but I haven't really listened to them enough to determine how I'd rank them. What I've heard from "Magnificat" and "Non Dvcor" has been pretty good though, I'm sure I'll be into them more before long.
